You will be given permission to connect with the power grid only after your application has been approved by your utility company. The utility's process of verifying your solar system's technical and administrative compliance is called interconnection. During the interconnection process, utilities certify that your solar system meets the following general requirements:
The power exported to the grid is measurable and compliant with the grid’s standards in terms of voltage/frequency, and that the equipment used is certified
The AC side of the solar system (between the inverter and the utility meter) meets the utility’s safety requirements
The power and energy generated meet the net metering program requirements
Once your interconnection application has been approved, you will receive notification that your solar system is ready to be turned on.
